Kidney stones form when urine becomes so saturated with a certain mineral that part of it can no longer dissolve into the urine. The undissolved minerals then crystallise and turn into hard stones. While these stones usually develop in the kidneys, they can form anywhere else in the urinary tract, causing severe pain or even a urinary tract infection. ESWL is a procedure performed under local anaesthesia by experienced urologists. The stones are fragmented using shock waves generated outside the body and directed onto these stones. It is considered as an effective treatment in eliminating 80% of kidney stones.
Jane and I wanted to thank you so much for the care you and your colleagues took of Jane whist in Mauritius. Everything went well and Prakash did a great job of getting us to your clinic and back over the 6 dialysis days. We had a wonderful holiday and our children and grandchildren plus the other family all enjoyed it enormously. Best wishes to you all
