The Apollo Bramwell Hospital has signed a memorandum of understanding on the 12th of Oct 2011 with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), to treat patients suffering from Muscular Dystrophy.
Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disease which affects the muscles of the patient and can have severe consequences on his/her life expectancy. It indeed hinders the patient’s mobility and his/her participation in social and economic life. This disease, for which there are no preventive measures, is still incurable. Some forms of Muscular Dystrophy are seen in infancy or childhood, while others may not appear until middle age or later.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has been created to cater for the needs of some 60 Muscular Dystrophy patients in Mauritius.
With the signing of the agreement, members of the society will benefit from inpatient and outpatient treatment at the Orthopaedics and Physiotherapy department of Apollo Bramwell Hospital, in terms of facilities, specialist consultations (from local and international doctors), medical and nursing supervision and investigations. The Apollo Bramwell Hospital agrees to support the Society by providing discounts on treatment price to patients.
Jane and I wanted to thank you so much for the care you and your colleagues took of Jane whist in Mauritius. Everything went well and Prakash did a great job of getting us to your clinic and back over the 6 dialysis days. We had a wonderful holiday and our children and grandchildren plus the other family all enjoyed it enormously. Best wishes to you all
Andrew and Jane Stewart
